Job Description Faststream is working in partnership with a leading maritime and logistics company to recruit an experienced HSE Manager for their Zeebrugge operations. This is a key leadership role in ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance within a fast-paced, safety-critical port environment.
As the HSE Manager, you will act as a Level 1 Prevention Advisor, driving occupational health and safety improvements across port operations. Your key responsibilities will include:
Developing and implementing the Global Prevention Plan (GPP) and Annual Action Plan (AAP). Conducting risk analyses for high-risk activities such as cargo handling, traffic movements, and heavy equipment usage. Ensuring compliance with Belgian HSE legislation (Codex over het Welzijn op het Werk) and ISO 45001 & 14001 standards. Leading incident investigations and overseeing corrective/preventive actions. Organising and delivering safety training and awareness programs. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including port authorities, contractors, and regulatory bodies. Monitoring KPIs and safety performance, providing reports to senior management. Driving a proactive safety culture through leadership and engagement. Key Skills & Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a high-risk industrial environment (port or maritime sector preferred). Certified Prevention Advisor Level 1 qualification. Strong knowledge of Belgian HSE legislation and safety management systems. Fluent in Dutch and English. Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.
