HR Leave of Absence Specialist
Description Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Leave of Absence Specialist to join our client's team on a contract basis, with the potential for permanent hire. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the full-cycle leave process for employees, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company-specific leave policies. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in leave management within large organizations and a strong working knowledge of California Family Rights Act (CFRA) regulations. A CFRA certification is highly desired. Responsibilities: + Manage end-to-end leave of absence processes, including intake, documentation, tracking, and return-to-work coordination. + Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), CFRA, ADA, and other state-specific leave programs. + Serve as a knowledgeable resource for employees, HR, and management regarding leave policies and procedures. + Administer leave requests using designated leave management and HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, Cerner, or similar platforms). + Collaborate with HR and payroll teams to ensure accurate documentation and processing of leave-related pay and benefits. + Monitor leave cases to ensure timely updates and action, escalating complex issues as needed. + Maintain and audit leave records to ensure accuracy and compliance. + Provide regular reporting and analysis on trends, volumes, and other leave metrics. Requirements Qualifications: + 3+ years of experience managing leave of absence processes, preferably in a large or enterprise-level organization. + Knowledge of leave laws and compliance requirements, including FMLA, CFRA, ADA, and other state regulations; CFRA certification highly desired. + Experience with leave management systems or HRIS platforms (e.g., UKG, Workday, Cerner, Epic, or similar tools). + Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. + Strong ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support employees and collaborate with cross-functional teams. + Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. + Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is preferred but not required.
