Part-Time Professor

The PHDL seeks a part-time professor to lead research and oversee the development, calibration, evaluation, and peer-reviewed reporting of several large, complex agent-based models. The selected individual will provide modeling oversight and review of progress on several federally funded modeling projects in Influenza, COVID-19, opioid use disorder, and drug use disorder. The individual will participate in weekly meetings of several research groups and provide critique and feedback on methodology, model structure, data inputs, and calibration results. The individual will contribute to the refinement of the front-end web displays of the model results.

The successful candidate will have a history of federally funded research programs in decision sciences and modeling. The successful candidate will have significant clinical expertise in infectious disease modeling and drug use disorders.

Qualifications: The candidate will be clinically (MD, RN) and methodologically trained (MS, PhD) and have achieved the rank of professor

Skills required:

· Expertise in the building of agent-based simulation models

· Knowledge of Bayesian and Markovian calibration methods

· Expertise in evaluating agent-based model outputs

· Experience in “debugging” agent-based simulation models

· Excellent writing skills

· Expertise in building agent-based models of infectious disease

· Expertise in building models of drug use disorder

The position will only be compensated for participation in funded projects. Appointment is contingent on external funding and will be for the period equivalent to the duration of the funding and subject to termination based on the lack of funding.
