Responsibilities Lab Specialist is responsible for providing technical support for Food safety Department. Individual is self-motivated and require supervision. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Operate HPLC analyzer including –but limited to: (preparing samples, uploading samples, reading result, sending daily report, and weekly trending report. Set up and maintain all relevant lab equipment. Operate most lab equipment including mixers, scales, sealers, chemical titration equipment, etc May be required to review and update SOPs, tracking logs, and material/reagent specifications Contact outside service providers to send laboratory instruments/equipment off-site for re-certification, repair and to assist with troubleshooting issues when applicable. Lab Materials ordering, receiving and inventory Independently keep the lab clean and organized Anticipate the needs of current and planned tasks and keep test chemicals/ tool for formulating stocked or on order. Demonstrate common sense and logic in day-to-day assignments Learn where and how to get information and seek coaching when needed. Follow through on details and agreed upon tasks to deliver results. Lead by example, open to sharing new ideas and skills with others. Adhere to safe work practices Qualifications JOB QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: B.S. in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or relevant science discipline. Bachelors or Master’s degree preferred. EXPERIENCE: 1+ years’ laboratory experience in food manufacturing or chemical laboratory environment, (HPLC experience is preferred) LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance. REASONING ABILITY: Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet goals and ensure product quality .Ability to troubleshoot instrument related issues. Requires basic knowledge of fundamental quality concepts. Basic use of computer systems applications used to operate instruments and data acquisitions Good attention to detail and an ability to multitask Can use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook The pay range for this position is $40,016 - $54,421 per year.
