Collects, sorts, weighs, processes and delivers linen per departmental policy. Prepares and delivers meals for patients per departmental needs and policy. **QUALIFICATIONS:** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. **EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:** + High school diploma or general education degree; or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. + On-the-job training will be provided if necessary **CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS:** + This position requires a valid driver’s license and that the employee is insurable by the Avera Health automobile liability insurance carrier. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** + Performs routine tasks in maintaining the hospital in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition. + Upon reviewing daily cleaning schedule, loads service cart, and transports to work area. At end of shift, returns unused supplies to utility room. Leaves trash in designated area, and cleans cart and equipment. + Cleans assigned areas by washing furnishings, floors, and equipment with special cleaning solution and disinfectants. + Sorts soiled linen, loads the washing machine and carefully watches through the cycles; dries, mangles, sorts, and folds linens. Distributes linen to appropriate areas in covered cart. Washes all surfaces and damp mops laundry room daily. Examines linens to assess need for mending and/or replacing. + Attends all in-services pertaining to the laundry unit and is expected to have full knowledge of all policies and procedures relating to the department and those that affect him/her. Laundry personnel must have an in-depth understanding of asepsis, infection control, and the germ concept. She/he must be very conscientious in the work that contributes to infection control.
