This position exists to perform the support and implementation of financial agreements within the household hazardous waste (HHW) program. The position serves as the lead statewide HHW contract liaison between the Agency and HHW programs, very small quantity generators (VSQGs) and transporters and treatment/storage/disposal facilities. Key responsibilities include responding to internal and external questions related to the HHW program. The position also involves planning and administering training for HHW site operators and conducting audits at facilities around the state. Additionally, the position involves supporting data collection and analysis for HHW and solid waste programs.
**Minimum Qualifications**
Bachelor's degree in environmental protection, sustainability, environmental science, public policy, urban or community planning, chemistry, biology or a similar area **and** two years of professional sustainability and/or environmental protection experience.
OR
Three years professional-level sustainability and/or environmental protection experience.
AND the ability to:
Develop and implement work plans.
Independently complete assignments in a timely manner.
Understanding of the environmental regulatory process and procedures.
Effectively coordinate and serve as a team member and understand the environmental, social and economic impacts of solid waste.
Engage and communicate with diverse stakeholders and team members.
Possess a valid Driver's license (see additional requirements).

**Preferred Qualifications**
Knowledge of hazardous waste principles and regulatory structures and/or understanding of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) program structure and operations.
Experience developing contracts and/or utilizing state contracts for purchasing goods or services.
Certifications or training related to hazardous waste or household hazardous waste management (example HAZWOPER certification, OSHA awareness, HHW/VSQG collection operations, DOT HAZMAT and RCRA)
Experience working with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs, policy development or legislative initiatives.
Ability to develop and maintain partnerships with Local Units of Government and other stakeholders.
Experience delivering or administering training programs
Ability to understand and analyze related data and/or ability to set up systems to collect, manage and present data
Effective public presentation skills, ability to write technical reports and effectively communicate technical concepts in person and in writing.
Experience with grant and/or financial assistance programs
Experience working with diverse communities.
**Physical Requirements**
Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small equipment. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
**Additional Requirements**
A driver’s license is an essential function of this position. This requires possession of an unrestricted Class D Driver’s License. The job offer is contingent on confirmation of a valid driver’s license AND a satisfactory DLR check.
Requires a Class D driver´s License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver’s license. Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers as long as the gross combination weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.
