Hospitality Underwriter Team Lead
Job Description Key Responsibilities: - Provide day-to-day leadership and support to team members. -Serve as a subject matter expert for Hospitality underwriting. -Lead team performance through coaching, development, and performance appraisals. -Conduct risk assessments and underwriting tasks within established guidelines. -Coach brokers and enhance underwriting capabilities. Maintain portfolio profitability through risk analysis and recommendations. -Negotiate policy terms and rates with clients. Foster positive relationships with brokers and promote business development. -Ensure proper file documentation and technical knowledge development. Support team innovation and collaboration. Role Expectations: -Foster a collaborative team culture and provide constructive feedback. -Remove obstacles to team success. -Participate in hiring and talent development. -Lead the team to achieve business results and manage operational needs. -Define technical development priorities and identify training needs. Requirements: -Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills. -Thorough understanding of insurance industry operations and strategies. Skills and Requirements Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field One or more of the following designations: Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP), Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP), Canadian Risk Management (CRM) 7+ years of Commercial Underwriting experience 1+ years of Hospitality-specific commercial underwriting (Underwriting for liquor licensed restaurants, bars, food trucks, etc.). 3+ years of underwriting management experience (leading direct reports). Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
