Hospital Medical Collections Specialist (SFV)
Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Medical Collections Specialist in the healthcare and hospitals industry. Located in Van Nuys, California, this role involves managing hospital billing and collections, focusing on procedures like Medicare managed care, commercial, PPO/APO, and Medical managed care. Responsibilities: • Oversee the handling of hospital billing and collections, ensuring all processes are performed efficiently and accurately. • Manage Medicare managed care procedures to ensure streamlined and effective operations. • Handle commercial, PPO/APO, and Medical managed care processes as part of the job function. • Train and guide new team members on Collector I positions. • Monitor and address any changes or challenges that have arisen due to COVID-19. • Utilize skills in Medical Billing, Medical Collections, Medical Appeals, and Medical Denials to enhance job performance. • Handle tasks related to HMO PPO, Hospital Billing, Hospital Revenue Cycle, Hospital Outpatient, and Hospital Inpatient procedures. • Regularly update and maintain accurate customer credit records. • Resolve customer credit inquiries in a timely and professional manner. • Monitor customer credit accounts and take appropriate action to collect delinquent payments. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role within the healthcare, hospitals, or social assistance industry • Proficiency in medical billing and collections processes • Proven experience with medical appeals and dealing with medical denials • Familiarity with HMO PPO practices and policies • Strong understanding of hospital billing procedures • Proficiency in managing hospital revenue cycles • Experience with hospital outpatient and inpatient services • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Strong analytical abilities and detail-oriented approach • Proficient in the use of relevant computer software and applications • Solid organizational and multitasking skills • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with patient data • Familiarity with relevant local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines • Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to take initiative • Willingness to continually update knowledge and skills in the field • Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
