Summary This is a Detail Not To Exceed 30 days. This position serves as The Housekeeping Officer for the New Jersey VA Healthcare System, East Orange Campus. The Housekeeping Officer Manages a complex large-scale Environmental Management Services program for the healthcare facility. Responsibilities Manages a complex large-scale healthcare system environmental services program for the EMS. Determines short-range, intermediate, and long-range goals and policies in conjunction with higher management and/or appropriate hospital committees. Determines the need for allocation of resources within EMS for a wide range of environmental services requirements. Serves as a consultant and advisor on environmental matters to the Healthcare System Director and executive leadership. Provides staff support to various services and staff throughout the healthcare system. Collaborates closely with the Infection Prevention and Control (IP&C) department to establish aseptic techniques, appropriate cleaners, disinfectants and cleaning processes in order to provide a safe, clean, healing environment to reduce Hospital Acquired infections Develops policies, procedures, and guidelines for cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting and follows the recommendations from Environmental Programs Service and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Develops performance standards, counsels, mentors and appraises employees. Prepares justifications for performance ratings, approves disciplinary actions, and other adverse actions. Keeps subordinates advised on overall personnel management matters and changes affecting the VHA Serves as the Pest Management Officer (PMO) for the Health Care System. As the PMO, the HHO ensures that the facility meets the requirements of VHA directive 1850.02 (1) Pest Management Operations. Oversees a large-scale operation Textile Care Processing Facility (TCPF) and contracts with a capacity of over 1 million processing pounds per year. Oversees the Interior Design Program. Determines priorities as they relate to Interior Design. Provides operation and activation budgets to executive leadership for both recurring funds and special. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (schedule may vary based on needs of the service) Telework: This position may be authorized for telework.
