VCA West Coast Specialty and Emergency Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Hospital Administrator to join our talented, passionate team! Located just minutes from the beach in Fountain Valley, CA, we’re a 24-hour hospital offering advanced specialties including Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, and Neurology.

As our Hospital Administrator, you’ll play a key leadership role in driving hospital operations, associate engagement, and exceptional patient care. You’ll oversee approximately 180 associates — including doctors, technicians, veterinary assistants, and support staff — and partner closely with our Medical Director and Field Leadership Team. Here, your input matters — we empower decision-making, and building a collaborative, high-performing culture.
 

What You’ll Do:

Lead and develop hospital teams focused on quality care, client experience, and operational excellence

Oversee hiring, coaching, and performance management of hospital staff

Partner with medical leadership to drive financial performance and growth

Prepare and manage budgets; monitor monthly P&L to maximize success

Foster a strong hospital culture of ownership, teamwork, and accountability

Ensure compliance with medical recordkeeping standards and hospital protocols

Help manage and resolve client concerns with professionalism and compassion

Represent the hospital and VCA proudly in the local veterinary and broader community
 

What We’re Looking For:

3–5+ years of leadership experience in a veterinary, specialty, or emergency hospital setting (multi-department preferred)

Proven ability to manage hospital operations including scheduling, payroll, inventory, and vendor relationships

Demonstrated success in leading and developing large, diverse teams, including performance management and conflict resolution

Strong understanding of hospital financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management

Experience supporting client service excellence and ensuring consistent, high-quality patient care delivery

Skilled at partnering with veterinarians and medical leadership to drive hospital performance and team engagement

 

VCA Animal Hospitals offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including Medical/Dental/Vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, pet care discounts, paid vacation, holidays and sick days, health and well-being programs that provide resources and training. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The annual salary range for this position is $115k - $130k. This position may also be eligible for other variable pay programs.
