Job title : Head of (Reliability, Maintenance Program & Configuration) 

Job location : Bangalore 


 

Accountabilities: 

The Jobholder is responsible for the oversight, delivery and performance of the Reliability, Maintenance Program and Configuration activities provided to Airbus FTM Contracts, Airbus  Flight Hour Services (FHS) - Tailored Support Package (TSP) and Components (C) contracts.  

In this function, the job holder is responsible for the overall organization and management of  activities and team under his/her perimeter and be responsible for maintaining the fleet under  supervision to the highest Operational Reliability, in line with applicable airworthiness  requirements such as EASA & NAA and in accordance with Airbus Technical Standards and  FHS Financial interests.  

Supervise on-time, on-cost, on-quality engineering deliverables to ensure FTM Standalone,  FHS-TSP & FHS-C contracts are delivered per workshare aligned with:  

● FHS Engineering teams (located in TOULOUSE HQ),  

● TSP Engineering teams (or known as customer facing teams - located worldwide)  

● Define needs of digital tools for his/her activities.  


 

Dimensions: 

● Subordinate employees (FTE headcount): 10+ employees 

● Fleet coverage  

● all customers subscribing to Flight Hours Services, Components scope 

● all customers, with focus per tail, subscribing to Flight Hours Services, Fleet  technical management  


 

Main activities: 

The Reliability and MPC manager will manage a coherent team of engineering experts:   

      ● Translating the Airbus FHS Domain strategy into clear activities for the 

      team, 

 ● Organization and staffing of team as per business requirement,  

 ● Ensure organization’s resources are developed and delivering responsibly  

 ● Support integration of central plateau with overall AIRBUS organization,  

 ● Foster the development and implementation of standardized processes, methods and   tools (including necessary development of MIS – AMASIS/AMOS) to improve efficiency   and quality of activities performed and airworthiness management  

  ● Ensure business transformation by adopting industry best practices, deploy 

                         continuous   improvement as well as LEAN practices 

 ● Support development, mobility, & performance of team members,  

 ● Engage to develop his/her team, manage team skills, competences & knowledge, 

● Define SMART team objectives, manage individual performance and carry out interviews   to bring the team to a high level of pride and result in their day to day service   deliverables for customer,  

● Promoting TRUST and empowerment to help the team to grow, develop and achieve   superior results while ensuring the wellbeing of the team members,  

● Anticipate succession planning, ensure succession and transition plan with a potential   short notice scenario considering the very challenging and dynamic local environment  

With support of team and overall organization, ensure delivery of all necessary technical  activities and associated deliverables, including but not limited to:  

● Develop and maintain communications with customer facing team stakeholders, with an  integrated collaboration with FHS-C and TSP operations 

● Develop close relationships with FHS Engineering Toulouse HQ teams, in order to  escalate critical issues to be further investigated with Customer Support and Airbus  Programs at the FHS organization level 

● Contribute to the highest Operational and Dispatch reliability to support Airbus  commercial image and contribute to the FHS-TSP contractual KPI such as Aircraft  On-Time Performance (AOTP). 

● Support the development and implementation of industrialized processes, methods and  tools to improve efficiency and qualitatively the activities performed 

● Manage A/C and component Configuration,  

1. Manage Reference Cards definition in MIS, including ICY and TCI setup, 

and  link with manufacturer references  

2. Manage aircraft configuration tree definition and update for series and 

tails 

3. Manage Complex-assemblies configuration definition as necessary  


 

● Manage maintenance program definition and update for each of our TSP customers, 

 1. Ensure creation and regular update of Aircraft Maintenance Program 

(AMP) in coordination with respective Airbus Maintenance Department   

(SEM) as necessary (TBC)  

                                       2. Oversight of AMP effectiveness and support SIM to build up dossier for 

                                       AMP  optimization (TBC)  

3. Ensure AMP and MIS alignment (task cards, reference cards and aircraft  configuration tree) to secure airworthiness compliance 

● Ensure quality of data in IT Tools (including but not limited to MIS)  



 

● Follow / improve component and aircraft reliability & availability by:  

1. Performing necessary reports and actions as per RCP to meet Customer  requirements in a timely manner,  

2. Support FHS Engineering and Operations in identifying and performing  reliability analysis to reduce costs related to material (components and  

expendables)  

● Define needs for digital tools for engineering activities:  

  1. Contribute to the performance and unique added-value of FHS services, 

 2. Provide business expertise to support the development of solutions, particularly   through Skywise 


 

Outputs: 

● Increase team motivation and engagement to reach assigned objectives,  

● Increase customer satisfaction in regards with AIRBUS FHS engineering support to:  

 1. Maintain aircraft airworthiness,  

  2. Increase A/C performance (reliability and availability), 

              3. Reduce Cost of ownership and maintenance costs,  

  4. Provide visibility and anticipation on technical issues 

● Improve integration of activities with necessary AIRBUS FHS & Support and Services   entities to generate synergies and mutual benefits 

● Improve AIRBUS FHS Cost base to improve FHS competitiveness or service price   reduction to increase market share,  

● Strengthened AIRBUS Services development (FHS-C and FHS-TSP / digital tools, …)  


 

Job Requirements: 

● Minimum degree holder in Aerospace Engineering or AME with specialization or related   fields  

● Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Airline / MRO, mainly in Technical Services   position

  

● Good knowledge of Continued Airworthiness Management  

● License or Type training on commercial transport category aircraft, preferably on any   Airbus product, A320 / A350 (Desirable)  

● Strong Leadership, communication & managerial skills,  

● Superior organizational skills, flexibility to manage multiple priorities, adaptability to   changing & challenging deadlines with attention to detail,  

● Excellent team player with good communication, customer facing experience and   interpersonal skills  


 

Those candidates with relevant experience ranges between (10 - 20) years are suitable for this requirement. 


 

The (designation / title) of this position would vary with respect to the relevant experience of the respective candidate. 



 

Organization structure: 

The Jobholder, as a member of the FTM CiTy, operationally reports to the Head of Engineering  FTM.
