The HLM System Engineer is responsible for the design and integration of handles, locks, and latch mechanisms (HLM) into vehicle closures (hoods/frunks, side doors, tailgates, liftgates, decklids). You will work closely with component and application engineers to guide the design and integration of HLM systems into closure systems with a focus on managing attributes (package, design feasibility, NVH, water management, craftsmanship, crash safety), robustness, fit, and function. You will also be deeply engaged in quality improvement for HLM systems, leading root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions and prevent recurrence. This is a versatile role that requires expertise in latching systems (from design through manufacturing and assembly) and the ability to take a systems approach to latching systems integration in closures, interfacing with cross-functional stakeholders across the hardware and software teams, ultimately driving innovative solutions to deliver the best possible product.
