Maintains competence in all routine histology practices (e.g., embedding, sectioning and routine automated staining); routine maintenance; and basic troubleshooting. Duties may include receiving, preparing, archiving and/or retrieving specimens/material; preparing and or stocking department supplies and reagents; and performing quality assurance tasks. **Job Description** : **EDUCATION:** HS Diploma: High School Diploma or General Education (GED) **SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:** + Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrated basic knowledge and technical competence in specimen collection and preparation, laboratory operations, and quality assurance in histology. + Quantity of Work: Ability to organize and prioritize job duties and assigned tasks for completion within expected time-frames. + Quality of Work: Ability to accurately, precisely, and reliably perform job duties and assigned tasks. Demonstrates sound judgment and problem solving relevant to assigned duties. + Culturally Competent Communication: Ability to compassionately and effectively interact individuals and groups of diverse ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs and behaviors. + Workflow Management: Ability to appropriately respond to fluctuations in volume, unexpected situations or problems such as equipment or information system failures, shift-to-shift hand-offs, priority test orders, and specimen integrity issues.
