Job Overview:
RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers University Medical Group is looking to add a qualified Histotech II. Under the direction of the Mohs surgeon, responsible for cutting and the processing of frozen section specimens after surgical excision of skin cancers, surgeries/excisions and management of small laboratory and conduct highly specialized, technical or unique research in the area of Dermatology.
Qualifications:
Required:
Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology or related field.Certified by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board: Certified Medical Dosimetrist or board eligible.Computer background, office routine familiarity and strong knowledge of anatomy from various imaging modalities, and medical terminology
Preferred:
ASCP or equivalent certification preferred2-3 years’ experience in Pathology preferredScheduling Requirements:
Day Shift, 12 hours/weekFull-Time ScheduleEssential Functions:
Cuts frozen sections specimens after surgical excision of skin cancer specimens. Assists in the establishment of performance of standard selection of methodology and instrumentation and coordination of the analytical, biochemical, physiological instrumentation functions with the clinical, research and teaching areas to ensure conformance with the goals and objectives of the Department of Dermatology. Assists physician with patients, prepares and performs varied research and clinical technical operations relating to dermatology on blood, urine and skin samples. Assists with conducting independently or as assigned, specialized research for specific projects.Assists with the instructing and training of residents, fellows, medical students, research assistants and laboratory technicians in laboratory techniques to develop the skills necessary to perform required functions. Assists in conducting a continuous program of research and development regarding the analytical and instrumentation functions of the laboratory.Maintains Mohs and biopsy case surgical log. Prepares and documents all routine inspections.Understands and adheres to RBHS Rutgers compliance standards as they appear in Rutgers’ Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and RBHS Rutgers regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
