Job Description

The Histology Support Technician will assist in the preparation of tissue samples and slides using routine and specialized histological techniques. This role is focused on sample prep and lab support—not testing or analysis—and plays a critical part in enabling downstream molecular pathology workflows. The technician will work closely with scientists, veterinary pathologists, and histotechnologists in a collaborative client-facing research environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform tissue processing, trimming, embedding, and sectioning (paraffin and cryo) of samples from various species and tissue types.Prepare slides using routine staining techniques such as Hematoxylin & Eosin (H&E) and special stains.Assist in setup and execution of molecular pathology assays (e.g., IHC, RNAscope, multiplexing) using automated platforms (Ventana, Leica) and manual methods.Maintain and monitor lab equipment, ensuring proper calibration and upkeep.Archive pathology specimens and maintain accurate records in accordance with GLP-like standards.Support digital pathology workflows by preparing slides for scanning and assisting with image analysis setup.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality prepared samples.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences with 3–4 years of relevant experience, orMaster’s degree with 1–2 years of experience.Prior experience in a research or pharmaceutical histology lab is required.

Skills & Knowledge:

Proficiency in histology techniques including tissue processing, embedding, and staining.Familiarity with digital pathology platforms and slide scanning preferred.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Requirements:

ASCP certification (HT or HTL) preferred.Must be authorized to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.

Additional Details: 

The position is onsite, full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm, with overtime as needed. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Boston, MA, and the surrounding areas are encouraged to apply.
