Responsibilities The Histology Supervisor functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for leading the histology department. With direct oversight of staff who perform histology specimen preparation, and testing specific to the pathology/histology department. Qualifications Job Requirements: Baccalaureate Degree in Histotechnology, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical or biological science. OR Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician or chemical, physical or biological science with >2 years of experience in a high complexity clinical laboratory. ASCP (HT) or equivalent Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment If certification does lapse, job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) until certification is reinstated Experience as a Histology Technologist Current knowledge of pathology laboratory techniques and principles 1+ years’ experience with high complexity testing in Pathology Preferred Job Requirements Certification as a Histotechnologist Previous experience in a leadership role, billing compliance, performance improvement and regulatory standards
