As a Histotechnologist, you will play a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by turning tissue samples into microscope slides. Histology is the study of microscopic structures of tissues.

* Covers the Frozen section rotation when assigned maintaining adequate supplies in order
not to prolong frozen procedures. Assists Pathologist with frozen section preparation.
Communicates effectively with surgery to resolve pending issues that could affect patient
outcome.
* Performs Immunoperoxidase staining procedures. Includes the operation and maintenance of
the stainer. Performs special stain procedures and troubleshooting.
* Posses knowledge of proper autopsy handling procedures to include morgue maintenance,
instruments maintenance, specimen pick up/clean up, procedure after completion of autopsy.
* Perform daily check of morgue and specimens left in morgue, and process immediately as per
our procedure (limb handling and disposal).
* Morgue preparation for autopsy, instrument setup and cleanup and follow procedure for
notification of post autopsy clean up by environmental staff.
* Familiar with various reference laboratories specimen requirements & performs processing

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Graduate of an approved program in Histotechnology. Minimum one years experience
preferred as Histotechnologist in a hospital setting.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision,
color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus, and form
perception required to notice pertinent details of specimens under microscopic study.
Color discrimination required to distinguish various shades and colors of specimens and
reactions.


LICENSURE
* Must be licensed as Histotechnologist in the state of Florida. Certified by a national
regulatory agency (ASCP) preferred.
