The Float Medical Assistant provides a basic level of patient care and treatments, assisting with obtaining vital signs, documenting chief complaints and all actions taken, and alerting the physician of any problems, concerns, or abnormalities. The role involves assisting with obtaining patient history, supporting physicians, residents, and licensed nursing personnel, setting up exam and procedure rooms, obtaining lab specimens, and ensuring accurate completion of requisitions. The Medical Assistant II functions more independently and may coordinate the workflow of Medical Assistants when necessary, as well as obtaining authorization for referrals and conducting front desk duties such as registration, check-in, and scheduling of patients.

Work Environment
The position operates Monday through Friday from 7am to 4pm, floating between Family Practice and Internal Medicine clinics. The work environment is a non-hospital internal medicine clinic setting. The role supports Internal Medicine residents at two clinic sites located across the street from each other, working at either site for the entire week.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
