Description We are looking for a dedicated HIM Technician to join our team in Saint Helena, California. This is a contract position where you will play a vital role in managing medical records and ensuring their accuracy and accessibility. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
• Organize and prepare medical records for efficient scanning in adherence to established procedures and standards.
• Retrieve and reconcile medical records from nursing units, addressing missing or poor-quality documents as necessary.
• Operate scanning equipment, review scanned images for quality assurance, and forward documents for final quality checks.
• Assist with the release of information services, ensuring patient data is handled securely and in compliance with regulations.
• Interview mothers to collect birth certificate information and enter data into the electronic birth certificate system.
• Submit completed birth certificates to the county and process fetal death certificates as required.
• Maintain and organize paper records, ensuring proper tracking within the chart tracking system.
• Conduct chart audits, resolve issues related to dictation, and assist physicians with chart deficiencies.
• Respond to inquiries regarding document imaging software and assist users with troubleshooting and process-related questions. Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate's degree or related experience is preferred.
• Proven experience in handling medical records and familiarity with scanning and document imaging processes.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining data accuracy.
• Proficiency in using computer systems and software related to medical record management.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations and confidentiality requirements.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, staff, and external agencies.
