Position Summary:
HIM Director is responsible for managing, coordinating, and performing the day‐to‐day operations and workflow of the HIM department operations. Must possess working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding standards with the ability to generate data as needed. Maintain compliance with JCAHO, Title 22, and other regulating agencies. Consistently demonstrates a professional and proactive attitude and actions in all interfaces with employee/patients confidentiality with no infractions. Complies with established departmental policies and procedures, objectives safety, and budgets. Manages daily operations of the department.
Duties:
Management of staff, productivity monitoring, staff education, release of information management, record storage and destruction management, and HIM operations.Train and cross train employees to allow better workflow. Responsible for record pick up and reconciliation, release of information request processing, hardcopy retrieval of medical records, processing of birth certificate/paternity papers as applicable. Perform unbilled activities including physician query follow up, physician incomplete record follow-up, collaborate with department leaders in monitoring and working unbilled accounts, working applicable unbilled management reports and queues.Ensure data flow activities, data processing and interpretation, and effective quality control procedures. Use effective techniques for analysis and statistical reporting. Work collaboratively with Medical Staff and Leadership to comply with standards and guidelines enforced through the Medical Staff Bylaws/Rules and Regulations (e.g., suspension of privileges) and is responsible for facilitation and execution of physician notification processes regarding medical record documentation deficiency, delinquency, and physician suspension.Work closely with Medical Staff and the hospital’s proctoring process. Ensure effective communication with Business Office to expedite billing and maintain data consistency and accuracy. Work closely with all correspondence issues to ensure proper release of information. Communicate and maintain good rapport with ancillary departments. Perform quality assurance studies on an ongoing basis. Ensure proper scheduling of employees, inclusive of vacation and any other scheduled or unscheduled time off. Work closely with the Medical Staff to keep the incomplete charts to a minimum. Manage and provider oversight of Medicare coding audits, MPI clean up, etc.Act independently in highly diversified and complex situations. Must be able to make sound decisions objectively and follow through.Demonstrate the ability to be cooperative, flexible, and resourceful.JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Accredited as Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)Preferred Education (Indicate preferred education or degree required.)
Bachelor’s Degree Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications (Indicate minimum years of job experience, skills or abilities required for the job.)
