High Voltage Test Engineer

Job Summary:

Lucid Motors is seeking a highly motivated High Voltage Test Engineer to support the development, validation, and verification of high-voltage (HV) and vehicle charging systems. This role involves designing and executing test plans for onboard chargers, high-voltage power electronics, and related vehicle charging components. The candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, operate test equipment, analyze data, conduct QA testing and contribute to the advancement of Lucid’s EV technology.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct QA testing to verify system functionality, reliability, and compliance. Develop and execute test plans for HV powertrain components, such as the onboard chargers. Operate and maintain high-voltage test equipment, power supplies, electronic loads, and mechanical test setups. Perform validation and safety testing, including electrical, thermal, and mechanical assessments. Collaborate with engineers and vendors to define test methodologies and ensure compliance with standards such as J1772, ISO 15118, and J3400. Support hardware-in-the-loop ( HiL ) / HV Buck converter testing of the charging system, implementing automated test cases. Design, build, and maintain test benches for both high and low-voltage systems. Automate data logging and analysis using tools like Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, Canape, Canaylzer. Troubleshoot and diagnose test failures, working with software, hardware, and systems engineers to resolve issues. Ensure proper documentation of test procedures, results, and design improvements.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related technical field is required.  Master's degree or higher education is preferred.

· 2 years or more of test engineering experience.

· In-depth knowledge of different power electronics topology for AC/DC and DC/DC conversion, such as PFC, DAB, LLC, etc.

· Develop simulation model for power electronics and control. Familiar with PID controller tunning/design, feedforward control, lead compensator and cascade control.

· Design the control performance requirements according to the electrical system requirements.

· Conduct theoretical analysis and experiments to optimize the power converter efficiencies.

· Understand the interleaving PWMs and phase shifted PWMs.

· Deliver high quality C code. Be familiar with micro-controller peripherals: ADC, PWM, SPI etc.

· Experienced in MATLAB code generation and code guidelines.

· Can read the hardware schematics and work with hardware team to define software the requirements.

· Working knowledge of the charging standards, i.e. J1772 and ISO 15118, is a plus.

· Knowledge of product safety concepts.
