Job Description

Our team works on a high and medium voltage projects for municipal, utility, and commercial and industrial clients. This position will perform technical tasks on a variety of projects including substation retrofits and new builds, overhead and underground transmission, distributed generation, renewable energy and energy master planning.

The successful candidate will have an understanding and experience in electrical design and technology principles. She/he will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. He/she will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and displays drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done with an excellent attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

Modeling and Coordination:Lead the creation and maintenance of models for High Voltage projectsDay to Day design and preparation of electrical deliverables, documentation, packages and reportsMaintain open communication with project team (including remote staff) regarding workload planning, task estimating and budgeting, mentorship and performance managementOversee the integration of HV equipment’s into overall project models, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve complex design and modeling issues.Standards and Quality Control:Develop, implement, and enforce Digital standards and protocols, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.Conduct thorough quality checks and audits on models to ensure precision and adherence to standards.Continually review and update standards to incorporate the latest industry developments.Leadership and Mentoring:Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior specialists and project team members.Facilitate training sessions and workshops on software, standards, and best practices.Foster a collaborative and innovative environment within the Digital team.Collaboration and Communication:Act as the primary point of contact for BIM-related issues and coordination with project stakeholders.Lead coordination meetings to address clashes, design discrepancies, and other modeling concerns.Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.Technical Support and Innovation:Provide advanced technical support to project teams regarding Digital tools and methodologies.Creating, updating, and implementing group specific CAD standards and detailsContributes to a complete and integrated set of digital project content which includes but not limited to identification of utility clashes, creation of relocation alignments and required documents by working co-operatively with team members to resolve issuesAssist with preparation of project specification and contract documentsReviews work prepared by peer/groupApplies strong knowledge of utility standards, guides, specifications, and procedures specific to working in with US electrical infrastructureEnsure that the technical and safety standards are maintained in all aspects of design work.

 

Documentation and Reporting:Maintain comprehensive documentation of BIM processes, standards, and project-specific requirements.Prepare and present detailed reports on model progress, issues, resolutions, and overall project schedule.Assist in the development of BIM execution plans and ensure their implementation across projects.

 

 

Qualifications

Mandatory qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in EngineeringExperience: 8 years of relevant experience preferably with a focus on High Voltage projectsHigh level design and CAD skills and technical competency in the field of electrical engineeringAdaptability and fervent curiosity in learning new software and applicationsAble to participate in field walks and create field sketches, take dimensions, climb ladders, etc. as necessaryPhysical design experience for MV/HV substation facilities

Nice to have:

Technical Skills:Confidence and expertise utilizing Autodesk 2D and 3D platform packagesExperience working in collaborative model environments (e.g. Navisworks)Experience in the management of Common Data Environments including ProjectWise, BIM 360Experience leveraging laser scan or other data sets to inform design developmentKnowledge of typical stakeholders and be able to anticipate data requests and expectationsUnderstanding of vendor documentation and it’s use as a reference for assigned tasksDemonstrated experience in participating complex, multi-discipline programs/projects and CAD teamsSoft Skills:Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Effective time management and organizational skills.Certifications: Digital or Software’s certification (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional) is a plus.
