HGV Class 2 Driver / Depot Support Operative
Location: Edinburgh West
Rate of Pay: £15.53 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday - 36 hours per week
Duration: Initial 6 months (with strong potential for extension or permanent role)
Holidays: Up to 33 days per year

This role offers a blend of hands-on driving, depot support, vehicle preparation, and essential administrative tasks.

What You'll Be Doing:Drive & Deliver: Safely collect and deliver vehicles (up to 26 tonnes) across various client sites in Edinburgh.Maintain the Fleet: Inspect vehicles, coordinate repairs, and liaise with external suppliers and contractors regarding warranties and hires.Depot Operations: Assist with depot housekeeping, refuelling, plant/vehicle movement, and general facilities maintenance.Vehicle & Stock Prep: Support vehicle preparation, washing, defect reporting, and material stock control.Admin Support: Update internal systems, maintain records, input data, and manage material requests efficiently.
Health & Safety Focus: Follow strict procedures while working with hazardous materials, heavy plant, and in outdoor conditions.

What We're Looking For:Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) LicenceCPC Card & Digital TachographStrong admin and IT skills - Microsoft Excel/Word; confident working with internal systemsBasic mechanical awareness - able to identify and report defectsGreat communication skills - work with internal teams, clients, and suppliersA safety-first mindset with good problem-solving and organisational skillsWillingness to work outdoors in all weather, lift heavy items, and assist with manual handling
Desirable: Experience working in a local authority depot, fleet services, or vehicle maintenance support.
