Job Description

Our Hub Workshop Manager is looking to recruit a number of ambitious and dedicated Apprentice's who are keen to undertake a Heavy Vehicle Technician Apprenticeship by joining the nation's favourite parcel delivery company.

Location: Logix Road, Hinckley LE10 3BQShift Pattern: 4 on 4 off Working Patterns: Nights18's & over

Purpose of Position

To develop skills and knowledge in all aspects of commercial vehicle repairs and maintenanceTo attain qualifications in automotive engineering through a modern apprenticeshipTo be capable of continuing employment with DPD at the close of the apprenticeship program as a fully qualified and skilled HGV Mechanical Engineer.

Key Tasks/Areas of responsibility

Housekeeping and preparation of workshop at start of shiftAssisting trained employees in vehicle repairs and maintenance as appropriateMaintaining workshop quality standards in health and safety and proceduresCovering the role of steam cleaner/valeter/store person for absence/holidaysTo undergo any other tasks as requested by the assigned Mechanical EngineerAdherence to the Health and Safety policyTo participate in an Apprenticeship Scheme, attending on an appropriate college course relevant to the trade, as required and receiving ‘on the job’ trainingTo ensure all college records, logbooks etc are kept up to date, in accordance with the apprenticeship requirements Work with increasing independence as the apprenticeship progressesParticipate in all training initiatives specific to the duties requiredUndertake such other duties as may be reasonably requested by line management

Qualifications

What we’re looking for;

Familiar with Google Workspace (GMail/GSheet)Independently motivated, with the ability to take on tasks and duties without immediate directionExcellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levelsHigh attention to detail to produce accurate and quality workDemonstrate the core DPD DNA values of Passion, Respect, Honesty, Flexibility, Hard Work and Accountability

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must have achieved GCSE/Level 2 in Maths and English.

Desirable:

GCSE/Level 2 in Maths and English or be willing to complete this during the apprenticeship.
