Heavy Truck Driver (Sweeper)
Overview This position is physically located in Iraq The Airfield Sweeper Operator(s) under direct supervision will operate machinery utilized for the purpose of maintenance and upkeep of runways, taxiways, ramps, and other airport/airfield surfaces utilized by aircraft in support of active aviation operations. The Airfield Sweeper Operator may be tasked to operate airfield sweepers, airfield snowplows, airfield mowing machines, etc. The Airfield Sweeper Operator must be able to review work schedule requirements and be able to communicate vehicle maintenance issues immediately upon identification. The Sweeper Operator should be able to read, write, and speak English. The Airfield Sweeper Operator will perform other duties and tasks as required. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. Operate machinery utilized for the purpose of maintenance and upkeep of runways, taxiways, ramps, and other airport/airfield surfaces utilized by aircraft in support of active aviation operations including, but not limited to airfield sweepers, airfield snowplows, and airfield mowers. Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Qualifications OCN Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. Valid vehicle operator’s license for operation of Airfield Sweeper Vehicles. 1-3 years of experience as a Airfield Sweeper Operator in a LOGCAP, AFCAP, Commercial, or FMS type project/program preferably in Iraq, Afghanistan, or a comparable contingent location. Ability to pass basic physical and background check sufficient for duty assignment in contingency/remote environment. Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English. Licenses/Certifications: CDL or equivalent required Preferred Experience: 2 years of prior experience as Airfield Sweeper Operator working on a LOGCAP, AFCAP, Commercial, or FMS type program supporting airfield operations in the Middle East, preferably in Iraq, Afghanistan, or a comparable location. Previous assignment as a member of the U.S. or foreign military airfield operations team responsible for airfield maintenance and clearing operations. Skills: Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English. Working Conditions: Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, dusty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months). Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well. Physical Requirements: Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
