Heavy Maintenance Material Coordinator, Senior

POSITION PURPOSE

Leads a team of Material Coordinators in supporting heavy maintenance events and ensures delivery of work completion, vendor performance, and cost reduction objectives are achieved.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Ensures required materials and services are obtained and delivered on schedule and at the lowest total cost.Communicates with MRO and Republic On site reps on all material requested and expected delivery dates.  Working with maintenance team on material concerns giving options to meet delivery expectations.Attends pre-planning meetings with Maintenance Strategic Planning team, planning all heavy maintenance events 2 weeks prior to induction. Ensures requirements are communicated, understood and executed throughout the Supply Chain organization including Material Planning, Purchasing, Repair & Warranty and Material Services to guarantee sources of supply.Confirms stock accuracy and core returns across heavy check locations.Works to continuously improve processes and flow across all touchpoints within the heavy check value stream.Monitors and validates requests based on MPD, Illustrated Parts Catalog, and non-routine requirements.Coordinates with the MRO provider to manage source of supply and to document those parts that are self-supplied vs. MRO provided based on lowest total cost for the organization and contractual terms on an ongoing basis.Collaborates with Maintenance to continuously improve internal heavy check operations, including cost, service levels, and efficiency initiatives.Monitors monthly and quarterly service levels and the operational performance matrix.Works directly with heavy check management to evaluate current processes and to establish additional ones to enhance the operation.Receives in all material into computer system, monitor inventory for accuracy and issues for aircraft during heavy maintenance event.Ensures all unserviceable inventory is returned and expedited for repair vendor.Fosters the Company’s core values and culture throughout the work environment.Provides technical leadership to team and department members.  Leads through example; monitors, influences and trains others.  Provides input to supervisor on opportunities for operational efficiencies.Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).Requires at least 2 years of experience as a heavy maintenance check coordinator, material planning or equivalent experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.A. /B.S.) or equivalent in aviation, supply chain or related field. Prefer airline experience. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical information such as manufacturer’s manuals, parts manuals and technical procedures, and governmental regulations.  Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal customers, vendors and management.  Able to effectively present information to vendors and management.

REASONING/PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY

Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

DECISION MAKING

Makes decisions daily on use of resources.  Decisions could require additional expenditure of resources if not sound decisions.

Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work in outdoor weather conditions within an open air hangar occasionally. 

Able to work on call 24/7.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

            Travel up to 30% of the time, including overnight travel.
