Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator (Excavators 340, 360, 325) – Contract Position Location: Rico, Colorado Start Date: July 8, 2025 End Date: Late September to Early October Employment Type: Temporary / Contract Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Heavy Equipment Operator to support a seasonal project in Rico, Colorado. This contract role involves operating Excavators 340, 360, and 325 to perform backfilling on slopes and other earth-moving tasks in mountainous terrain. The ideal candidate is dependable, skilled in precision work, and comfortable working in rugged outdoor conditions. Key Responsibilities: + Operate Excavators 340, 360, and 325 for backfilling slopes, grading, and general excavation + Perform pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance on equipment + Safely maneuver equipment on steep or uneven terrain + Follow site plans, grade specifications, and supervisor instructions + Work closely with laborers and other operators to ensure smooth operations + Adhere to all safety guidelines and project protocols + Maintain a clean and organized work environment Requirements: + Prior experience operating large excavators, especially 340, 360, and 325 models + Demonstrated ability to safely backfill and shape sloped terrain + Strong understanding of excavation, grading, and fill procedures + Good communication skills and ability to work in a team setting + Must be physically able to work outdoors in high-altitude conditions + Valid driver's license; CDL and equipment certifications a plus + Reliable transportation to and from the job site in Rico, Colorado Schedule: + Full-time, Monday through Saturday Compensation: + $35.00 an hour + Per diem available for food and housing
