The Job:  

As a Heat Treat Operator, you’ll be part of our Tools & Outdoor team working as an on-site employee at Hampstead Manufacturing. You’ll get to:  

Understand operations of various furnaces (heat treat, temper boxes, washer, steamer)

Load parts in assigned furnaces, using proper heat treat fixtures such as baskets, screens, etc.

Perform all powdered metal heat treat processes, adhering to prescribed work instructions

Perform quality inspections of heat-treated parts per instructions

Perform in-process trouble shooting

Add oil to quenching tanks as needed

Assist maintenance personnel in maintaining and operating equipment

Fill out production logs with proper information

Meet production standards, striving for high quality but also with a focus on safety

Ability to use fire extinguisher assigned to Heat Treat area in case of fire

Perform other duties as assigned

The Person:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Basic ability to read, write, and communicate in English

Basic ability to perform math – add, subtract, and multiply whole numbers, fractions, and decimals

Basic mechanical ability, with a minimum of 1 year of manufacturing experience preferred

Strong orientation toward safety, quality, and continuous improvement demonstrated by a work history of safe performance, accuracy and attention to detail in the work performed, and constructive problem solving and suggestions for improvement

Ability to handle continuous standing of 8 to 10 hours daily

Ability to perform frequent lifting up to 33 lbs independently and up to 70 lbs with assistance

Ability to work in high temperature environments (heat index of up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit)

Use of vision including peripheral, color, distance, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Availability to work daily and weekly overtime as required

The base pay range for this position in Maryland is $19.98-$22.28 per year. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
