Fairview Hospital's Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides care to infants that need treatment to recover from severe illnesses and plays a vital role in nursing infants to thrive and achieve health weight post-birth. As a Health Unit Coordinator on this unit, you will be responsible for providing a high level of customer service to patients, families, visitors and other caregivers to promote and support positive patient experiences. You will also perform administrative and clerical duties to ensure efficient operational flow in their assigned department. In this role, you will thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment, offering beneficial knowledge in critical care and other medical services you can use throughout your career.

A caregiver in this role works evenings from 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
Handle various computer tasks, such as updating schedules and managing patient information.
Coordinate and send out pages to physicians, especially during emergencies like traumas and strokes
Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
One year of experience in a customer service-related role
Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
College degree
Microsoft Office experience

Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.
Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.
