Please see Additional Information section below.*** You will serve as a Health Technician (Audiology) in the US Naval Hospital of US NMRTC YOKOSUKA JA. Responsibilities You will review medical and occupational history, and all pertinent data to determine requirements for hearing evaluation. You will evaluate outer and middle ear function using otoscopic examination and Tympanometry testing. You will administer microprocessor-based pure tone hearing tests. You will document and accurately file hearing evaluation results, referrals and pertinent data in patient health records. You will appropriately refer patients as required to an Audiologist, Physician, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner or Independent Duty Corpsman. You will counsel patients on hearing evaluation results, health promotion topics, workplace health hazards and prevention of noise-induced hearing loss. You will fit and issue appropriate hearing protective devices and instruct personnel on the proper care and use of devices. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate most or all of the following duties: 1.) Reviewing medical and occupational history, and all pertinent data to determine requirements for hearing evaluations; 2.) Documenting and accurately filing hearing evaluation results, referrals, and pertinent data in patient health records; 3.) Counseling patients on hearing evaluation results, health promotion topics, workplace health hazards and prevention of noise-induced hearing loss; 4.) Providing administrative support to Occupational Audiology and The Hearing Conservation Program; and 5.) Performing daily calibration and functional check of audiometric test equipment. Pay retention may be granted when certain conditions are met. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.
