HEALTH SYSTEMS SPECIALIST
Summary You will serve as a HEALTH SYSTEMS SPECIALIST of NMRTU GROTON CT. THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT. Section 1109 of the National Defense Authorization Act Fiscal Year 2020 Public Law 116-92 amended Section 9905 of title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.) to streamline and simplify certain Department of Defense civilian Direct Hire Authorities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates directly to certain positions in the competitive service in the Department of Defense. Responsibilities You will utilize knowledge in Medical terminology. You will multi task. You will provide excellent customer service. You will have the ability to obtain PEBLO certification within the first year of hire. You will prepare and present findings. You will track all assigned cases, analyzes performance against established metrics related to Disability Evaluation Systems (DES) processing performance. You will serve as the primary liaison between the military member and other agencies. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience serving as a technical authority on Disability Evaluation System (DES) programs, applying in-depth knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) Instructions, Secretary of the Navy Instructions, and DES policy, guidelines, processes, and procedures to manage complex cases and advise leadership. Experience performing full-spectrum DES and Temporary Disability Retired List (TDRL) processing, leveraging comprehensive knowledge of the military retirement system, including prior service accruals, to ensure accurate and compliant case handling. Experience navigating hospital administration and military systems, utilizing a solid understanding of overall hospital operations, military customs, and chain of command to coordinate efforts across departments and ensure proper case flow. Experience using Military Health System (MHS) electronic health records, including AHLTA, CHCS, and MHS Genesis, to process and track cases, analyze performance data against established metrics, and maintain accuracy and timeliness in all phases of DES processing.
