Summary This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Communications, Creative Services Group, Division of Content Development. As a Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-13, you will perform assignments associated with education, outreach, and customer service, aimed at various stakeholders. Responsibilities Develops, evaluates, and implements policies related to education and outreach activities. Implements strategies for wide dissemination of information to assist beneficiaries and consumers in making informed health care choices. Evaluates and analyzes the impact of new or revised changes to legislation before the Congress pertaining to any CMS program. Maintains strong collaborative communication linkages between offices and contracted stakeholders on education, outreach, and training initiatives. Develops project plans to ensure logistics are handled efficiently, identifying potential bottlenecks and resolving issues within the scope of authority. In order to qualify for the GS-13 grade level, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, which includes: (1) Publicizing consumer education products to communicate health care program options to customers; and (2) Organizing outreach activities such as public relations, publications, conferences, and presentations associated with health care programs; and (3) Serving as an advisor to investigate and resolve customer complaints related to health care education and outreach activities. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
