Health Care Aide-Clinical

The Pediatric Surgical Ambulatory Clinics located at McMaster Children's Hospital Site of Hamilton Health Sciences supports the unique healthcare needs of children age 0-17. Ambulatory Surgical Clinics provide family centred care to Pediatric General Surgery, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Plastics, Urology.

As a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, the HCA provides clinical support to patients in collaboration with other health care providers. Functions according to the job description for Health Care Aide - Clinical. Duties include: ensure efficient patient flow and information flow from the team to the Business Clerk, maintain readiness of clinic rooms between patients, clinic chart preparation, stock clinic rooms with clean supplies and patient education material, support physicians and clinical teams within scope of HCA duties, other duties as assigned

1. Personal Support Worker or Health Care Aide certificate required
2. Previous hospital/clinic experience required
3. Computer familiarity or willingness to learn computer skills as required
4. Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, teamwork skills
5. Demonstrated initiative and judgment appropriate for the position
6. Ability to accept assigned or delegated functions
7. Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly
8. Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and corroboratively
9. Ability to lift using appropriate lifting techniques and bend, push and pull using good body mechanics
10. Pediatric experience preferred
