Job DescriptionReporting to the OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) Manager for the province of Quebec and working closely with the company’s managers, the OHS Advisor is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and overseeing activities related to the prevention of workplace accidents and occupational illnesses for the sites under their care (including the Ottawa region, Abitibi, and several other locations in the province of Quebec).
Responsibilities:
Supporting the continual development of the H&S culture with all managers / employees Advising, collaborating, and supporting managers regarding related strategical H&S initiatives, programs, procedures, and tools.Performing regular inspections of workplace and work practices to ensure that safety rules and regulatory requirements are respected.Performing occupational risk analysis and proposes preventive measures.Conducting investigations and analyzes work related accidents with managers.Supporting and auditing the adequacy and effectiveness of preventive measuresParticipating and collaborating with regulatory and third parties for inspections or investigations, fire services, etc.)Responding to employees and internal / external customers’ occupational health and safety information requestsPlanning and performing internal trainings sessions and monitor completion of mandatory H&S trainings.Tracking and reporting on various H&S metrics and key indicatorsConducting and assisting with orientation sessions for new hires and participate in on-boarding activities as required.Supporting the rollout of corporate/H&S programs, policies, and other initiatives.Advising site Health and Safety Committee.Performing other related tasks related to H&S duties, as assigned.QualificationsA minimum of college related H&S diploma or university certificationsFive years of experience in a similar positionBilingual in French and English is requiredKnowledge of Ontario and Quebec’s laws and regulations pertaining to occupational H&SExcellent written and oral communication skills are required.Has excellent planning, organization, and adaptation skills.Impeccable attention to detail is an absolute must.Possess technical skills acquired in an industrial manufacturing environment.Demonstrate rigor, ability to maintain multiple files concurrently.Has initiative, autonomy and a developed customer approach.Strong MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) proficiency.Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in high-pressure situations.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to think outside the box.Maintain discretion, confidentiality, and diplomacy in everything you do.Hold a valid driver's license.Additional InformationWhat we offer:
