4 Year Degree The Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach provides leadership in all coaching, recruiting, and administrative duties for a nationally competitive Division III women’s lacrosse program. The individual reports to the Director of Athletics. Secondary duty will be determined.

The Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach is a visible position that carries significant influence, and this requires strong character and work ethic.

Essential Job Functions: Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people; Organize, prepare, and conduct practices, trainings, and competitions; Successfully recruit student-athletes in accordance with all Centre College, Southern Athletic Association, and NCAA rules and regulations; While leading, monitoring, and coordinating training and practice sessions, ensure all appropriate safety guidelines are followed; Responsible for program budget to include travel, equipment, officials, and recruiting expenses; Supervision and mentoring of assistant coach(es); Direct all aspects of the program; Expectation of being present, on campus, for your student-athletes throughout the academic year; Creating and maintaining a critical relationship with the Office of Admissions; Lead the holistic development of women’s lacrosse student-athletes; Represent the program and the College to students, parents, community, alumni, and the general public; Manage the daily operations and administration facets of the women’s lacrosse program; Establish team standards, expectations, values, and culture that align with the athletic department and the College; Attend appropriate continuing education to stay up to date on knowledge, safety, and technique; Build and maintain a roster of recruited student-athletes; Work with strength and conditioning staff to create training programs in order to maintain appropriate preparedness to meet the demands of the sport; Work with the athletic training staff to ensure emergency procedures are followed and posted, and all appropriate protocol is followed; Ensure team members receive proper training before attempting drills; Work in conjunction with members of the department’s administration and support staff in regards to staffing needs, strategic budgeting, facility needs and enhancements, fundraising, alumni development, and program promotion; Make appropriate recommendations to Athletic Administration in regards to maintenance concerns and enhancement needs for facilities; Actively participate in department-wide fundraising initiatives; Demonstrate an appreciation for and sensitivity to a diverse academic community, fostering an inclusive environment for students, faculty, and staff from a variety of social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial, and ethnic backgrounds; Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree with previous collegiate coaching experience required. CPR, AED, and First-Aid certifications will be required prior to September 1, 2025.  Valid driver’s license required prior to employment and maintained throughout.   

Knowledge and Skills

Demonstrated knowledge and coaching skills of the sport of women’s lacrosse and its playing rules; Commitment to the Division III philosophy; a commitment, and ability, to work effectively with diverse populations; High integrity and ethical standards are required, along with enthusiasm for the mission of Centre College and Centre Athletics; Knowledge of NCAA and SAA rules; and a demonstrated ability to recruit, retain, and mentor student-athletes are essential.  Additional qualifications include communication skills that allow for the ability to teach, motivate, and counsel student-athletes effectively as well as being self-motivated, positive, energetic, eager to teach, and a willingness to travel.  Ability to foster a team environment as well as the ability and desire to work successfully within a team-oriented athletic department is essential. Fully embrace and practice the department’s priorities of Recruit, Educate, Train, Compete, and Inspire. 

Physical Requirements:

Moderate physical activity.  Requires handling up to 25 pounds. Standing and or walking for more than four hours per day. Visual acuity to view a screen. Work, as appropriate, nights and weekends.
