Job Duties:

The Head Women's Softball Coach is responsible for leading, managing, and developing all aspects of a competitive collegiate, NCAA DI women's softball program. This includes overseeing athlete recruitment, coaching and training student-athletes, managing team logistics, ensuring compliance with institutional, NCAA, & conference regulations, and fostering a positive and inclusive team culture. This position oversees fiscal responsibilities pertaining to preparing, monitoring, and verifying expenditures associated with team travel, supplies/equipment, and scholarships. The coach is expected to build a successful program focused on athletic excellence, academic achievement, and personal development as a member of the Patriot League Conference.

What You Will Do

Coaching Responsibilities:
Provides general leadership and training for the women's softball team, directing workouts and coordinating with the sports performance staff within Athletic Training and Strength and Conditioning for appropriate skill set training.Instructing student-athletes on specific techniques, skills, and strategies. Establishing goals for each position and assessing performance through the completion of evaluations and consistent feedback.Maintaining a team culture of discipline and respect, addressing grievances, and developing a framework for corrective actions as necessary.Creates a home and away competition schedule.Manages all home competition logistics and planning.Effective budget planning and adherence to expense parameters ensure the timely execution of departmental/institutional budget procedures on an annual basis.Supervise, provide ongoing development, and evaluation of assistant coaches.
Fundraising:
Works with sports administrators and the advancement office to achieve annual fundraising goals and work to cultivate and build relationships with alumni, parents, and other supporters.
Recruiting:
Establish a recruiting strategy that effectively identifies and recruits prospective student-athletes who align academically and athletically with the university and athletic department's mission and values.
Student Athlete Support and Well Being:
Monitors the academic progress of student-athletesConnects student-athletes with campus resources in the area of Life Skills (i.e., career development, financial education, mental health, nutrition, etc.)Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Director of Athletics or the VP/Director of AthleticsNon-Essential Functions: The job description's listed responsibilities and tasks are not exhaustive, additional non-essential tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
?What You Will Bring

Required
Bachelor's DegreeMinimum of four years of experience coaching softball in the collegiate settingIntermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulationsAbility to maintain current CPR and First Aid CertificationValid US diver's license/Motor Vehicle Check required upon hire?


Preferred, But Not Required
Master's Degree, and 6+ years of experience
Proven success coaching softball at NCAA Division I level
Proven integrity and leadership skills. Strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach, counsel, and recruit academically qualified student-athletes

Physical Requirements
Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noisesModerate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day
