Head of Portfolio Management
Setting Business Planning timetable for the business, and responsible for the quarterly Business Reporting with Head of Underwriting ManagementEnsuring all parties deliver to the agreed timetable and meet the requirementsCo-ordinating and liaising with stakeholders to put forward risk appetite changes & other special acceptance requests in line with governance arrangementsCollaborating with senior stakeholders, e.g. CRO, Strategy Manager, Initiative sponsor, Active Underwriter on the Lloyd’s plan, planning  or new business initiativesMember of Planning & Performance Steering Group (PPRSG), escalating to appropriate forum and providing direction to stakeholders as well as recommending changesWork with the Active Underwriter in optimising the syndicate portfolio and with the Class of Business Heads in optimising class portfolios, given prevailing and forecast market conditionsSegment and analyse the performance of all classes of businessDevise and oversee production of underwriting management information and metrics for portfolio management and forecastingDevise and monitor execution of agreed class of business plans Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)Recommend strategic adjustments if performance not in line with expectations/KPI’s and implement specific improvement plans to address poor performing classes or segmentsSupport/devise strategies to realise the potential of areas that offer the syndicate business development/growth opportunitiesLiaise with Lloyd’s on relevant areas (for example, Closing the Performance Gap’ and ‘Decile 1, 2 and 10’)Keep abreast of the market, other issues, and developments pertaining to performance trends, planning and capital.

Experience and Requirements

In depth knowledge of insurance spanning multiple types and lines of business.Proven track-record of delivering strategic insights and recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative analysis, preferably in an underwriting setting.Prior involvement in wider corporate topics and in high-level strategic issues.Experienced in the development of strong end to end solutions, all the way through from problem definition to full analysis to development of actionable recommendations.Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret data and analytical results, and to then communicate this to audiences with differing levels of technical understanding.Strong data visualization skills, with the ability to build a compelling story from the data with clear insights and recommended actions.Experienced in communication of results to a variety of stakeholders incl. senior management.Strong results orientation with a track-record of managing projects for on-time delivery.Qualified Actuary or ACII qualified Underwriter or candidates with a quantitative background in performance management / strategy / consultancy.
