The opportunity We’re looking for a visionary and hands-on Head of Platforms to lead the evolution of QBE’s core technology platforms across NZPAC. This is a rare opportunity to step into a newly defined role where you’ll have end-to-end ownership of our platform strategy — from cloud infrastructure and DevOps to policy and claims systems. If you’re passionate about supporting and maintaining systems throughout their lifecycle, modernising legacy systems, embedding AI and automation, and creating smarter, more nimble ways of working with suppliers and partners — this is your chance to make a real impact.  Lead a talented team of engineers and platform specialists to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing platforms that support QBE’s transformation journey.

Your new role 

Lead the development and delivery of our NZPAC platform strategy, aligned with QBE’s digital transformation goals. 

Guide and support a talented team of engineers and platform leads, fostering a culture of trust, growth, and collaboration. Own the roadmap for core systems, cloud environments, DevOps, and shared services. Champion innovation — from cloud migration and automation to AI integration and smarter ways of working. Build strong relationships across the business, working closely with stakeholders to prioritise enhancements and deliver value. Ensure platforms are secure, scalable, and high-performing, with a focus on reliability, compliance, and user experience. Manage vendor partnerships with empathy and accountability, ensuring alignment with our values and strategic outcomes. Be a visible and trusted leader — someone who listens, empowers, and brings people on the journey. Happy to talk flexible working.

About you 

A strategic and people-focused leader with deep experience in platform and infrastructure management with: 

Proven track record leading the strategy, development, and operation of enterprise-scale technology platforms, preferably in the insurance industry.Solid understanding of service management and delivery, cloud platforms, DevOps, and modern software engineering practices. Experienced in managing vendors, contracts, and performance across complex ecosystems. Skilled in platform security, governance, and compliance — ideally within regulated industries like insurance or financial services. Confident leading technical teams, uplifting capability, and fostering a culture of innovation and accountability. Comfortable engaging with the business, challenging thinking, and aligning technology to strategic outcomes. Experience working within Agile/Scaled Agile or hybrid delivery environments
