Job Title: Head of Medical Department

Location: Tokyo, Japan

Report to: General Manager

Direct report: 5 direct reports (Team: 16)

 

Your Role:

As a Head of Medical Department, you will be responsible for the following:

Medical Management and Leadership:

Align local strategies and tactical plans with business realities.Manage on-time and on-budget execution of medical affairs initiatives.Lead the development and execution of medical strategies.Oversee KPIs and metrics for the Medical Affairs Department.

Talent Management and Development:

Conduct talent reviews and follow up on development plans.Develop training programs for onboarding and continuous education.Ensure healthy succession planning for leadership roles.

Regulatory and Compliance Management:

Collaborate to resolve regulatory, reputational, and compliance issues.Deliver on post-marketing commitments on time.

Scientific and Technical Leadership:

Contribute meaningfully to strategic discussions in cross-functional teams.Support local research proposals aligned with global data generation priorities.

 

Who You Are:

Education:

University degree (preferably in a scientific field).Advanced scientific degree (e.g., PharmD, PhD, MD) required.

Experience:

5-7 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in Medical Affairs.Experience in team leadership and mentoring new hires is preferred.

Skills:

Strong scientific, business, and compliance acumen.Excellent communication skills across diverse audiences.Strategic thinking and analytical capabilities.Fluency in English and Japanese.
