Your Role

This position functions as a member of the site leadership team and sets direction and priorities for the manufacturing organization. The manufacturing organization consists of bulk manufacturing, filling, inspection and packaging operations, technical support (MSAT) and validation.  Interacts with other departments to prioritize activities which impact production and site compliance. Implements, maintains and supports all corporate policies and procedures. Communicates effectively with staff to share operational and company information. Maintains operation and facility in a full state of compliance by following all relevant Federal, State and local laws and regulations for cGMP, OSHA, EPA and other applicable regulatory requirements. Continuously improves the product quality and operations by reducing waste, costs, and cycle time.

 

Major Position Activities & Responsibilities:

• Lead strategic decision making on manufacturing and technical operation related matters

• Actively participate at the Joint Steering Committee meetings with clients

• Conduct long range capacity planning to identify bottlenecks and develop mitigating strategies

• Maintain high level of profitability while controlling labor, waste, and overhead costs.

• Ensure a safe working environment for all departmental/site employees.

• Ensure the effective utilization of resources including personnel, equipment, and materials. Has hiring authority for the area of responsibility. Manage headcount and compensation planning. Make promotional, performance, merit, and other reward/incentive related requests/recommendations.

• Responsible for the development of personnel via training, reviewing work performance, coaching and feedback. Proactively resolves employee relations and disciplinary issues.

• Develop, communicate, and implement departmental policies.

• Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

Scope:

• Responsible for planning, developing, budgeting, and controlling costs within approved budget for

Manufacturing Department – including bulk manufacturing, filling operations, inspection and packaging operations, technical support (MSAT) and validation.

 

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

B.S. in Science or Engineering or equivalant experience. Advanced degree preferredAt least 10 years of pharmaceutical/biotech operations experience with increasing managerial responsibilities.

Aseptic/sterile processing or filling experience required, drug substance processing experience preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

• Profit center and/or cost center experience preferred.

• Excellent organizational and leadership skills. Ability to effectively manage change and promote continuous improvement.

• Ability to communicate and motivate a diverse workforce and work effectively at all levels in the organization. Ability to effectively interact with business partners and outside vendors.

• Skilled in problem solving techniques including the ability to work closely with peers and other departments to identify and solve complex technical, product, and production related issues.

• Ability to use personal computers and modern software programs found in a professional business setting.
