Head of Data and Regulatory Reporting, HSBC Life Insurance

This Role is responsible for managing HSBC's appetite to comply with risk, business and regulatory priorities, and seeking to strengthen the risk culture within the organization, through the creation and implementation of policies that set the global standard. Areas of coverage include, but are not limited to, oversight all activities of data and regulatory reporting department in INSH. Lead and drive the implementation of data governance, data management, data protection, data controls and data strategy for INSH. Lead and drive the coordination of regulatory data reporting across all business lines and functions. Lead and drive the data platform development and data analytic to support business growth and operations.

Head of Data and Regulatory Reporting jobs is accountable for ensuring data assets are consumed, managed and governed in accordance with prevailing internal and external rules. Additionally, this job manages initiatives to embed and maintain a culture across HSBC where good data management practices prevail.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.

In this role, you will:

Impact on the Business/Function :

Ÿ Ensure the adoption of consistent data management standards for data controls, data governance and data quality to meet HSBC FIM requirements.

Ÿ As the 1st line of defense to review and frame the use of data data sharing that complies with legal regulatory requirements, and partner with 2nd line of defense to obtain clearance where applicable Coordinate INSH data related meetings/workshops/forum/committee to drive the operation side of data.

Ÿ management activities and ensure data being owned, understood, trusted and maintain high quality.

Ÿ Provide training to increase the awareness and promote data management and data protection standards.

Ÿ Facilitate the management and utilisation of data as a corporate asset and ensure the overall quality of data.

Ÿ Ensure the effectively implementation of the data controls.

Ÿ Ensure the completeness of the coordination of regulatory reporting in compliance of the requirements from regulators.

Ÿ Take up the business ownership on data platform and governance of the data analytic activities across the businesses and functions.

Ÿ Foster strong relationships, adopting a joined-up approach, to execute change at pace and with minimum conflict.

Ÿ Maintain the robustness of business processes and leverage on partnership to ensure service availability and accessibility by customers.

Implement timely recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators.

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

Ÿ Minimum 15 years of department or team management experience leading a data governance and or regulatory data reporting team within a global firm, in the financial services industry; Significant data governance and or Regulatory Compliance experience is required. Planning and Project management experience is a plus

Ÿ Excellent understanding of data management practices e.g. master data management, data quality and information lifecycle management

Ÿ Excellent experience in performing data analysis and requirements gathering for a data warehouse or similar data projects

Ÿ Educated to degree level in Legal, Finance, Business Administration, Technology or related field; Master degree preferred.

Ÿ Ability to articulate issues concisely in the language of the business and communicate effectively and confidently across cultures and at all levels of the organization

Ÿ Proven ability to analyze situations and solve complex issues

Ÿ An excellent understanding of the current regulatory environment and expectations, relevant regulations, codes, and HSBC Group Standards, as well as their underlying purpose to mitigate risk to the financial system and provide information useful for the public sector to provide law enforcement and security

Ÿ Strong leadership skills to drive the direction of team’s development and operation.

Ÿ Proven behavior to do the right thing, take accountability personally, demonstrating good time management and commitment to the assigned deliverables

Ÿ Track record of strong communication and influencing skills with Senior Executives and across the business and functions

Ÿ Demonstrable insurance business knowledge

Ÿ Understanding of HSBC strategy, organization, systems and processes

Ÿ Knowledge of the external environment – regulatory, political, competitors etc.

Ÿ Drive and motivation to ensure delivery in a challenging environment

Ÿ Relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills

Ÿ Proficiency in Mandarin and English is a must.
