Job Summary

Oversees and directs one or more teams to complete grounds maintenance activities. Assures standards for safety and workmanship are met. Assists Supervisor with planning, estimation, problem solving, labor coordination and reporting.

Major Job Responsibilities Assures equipment and supplies as well as general logistics are coordinated between teamsAssists team leads and supervisors with planning and scheduling regular and specialized gardens and grounds maintenance activitiesAssists supervisor in information gathering and planningReports problems and issues and assists with resolutionMaintains regular contact with the Facilities help desk and other staffMay assist team with hands-on production workDemonstrates work and provides training to subordinates and teams Qualifications High school or GED preferred10+ years experience in an institutional setting where fine gardening is practicedBi-lingual skills in Spanish and EnglishMust be able to lift and carry 50 poundsRequires a California driver's license with fewer than three DMV pointsMust be able to follow both verbal and written instructionsMust be able to work in adverse weather and environmental conditions as well as uneven terrainDemonstrated ability to organize daily work and instruct team members to complete work assignedProficient knowledge of irrigation control and distribution systemsAdvanced knowledge of landscape construction techniques and maintenance Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate via radio and phoneAbility to communicate basic information in writing as well as understand written communicationBasic computer skills with office software and email applications and demonstrated experience with irrigation control and distribution systemsMust have demonstrated skills and/or certificate, licensing in one or more of the following areas: arboriculture, pesticide handling and application, heavy equipment operation, lift operation, tractor operation, irrigation management, general horticulture including soil/water relationships, plant identification, turf management, wildfire fuel management and regulations, and safe work practices Benefits and Perks
