Job Description:
Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking candidates for the Head Coach, Women’s Fencing & Club Men’s Fencing position. The Head Coach, Women’s Fencing & Club Men’s Fencing is responsible for coaching, recruiting and administrative duties. The incumbent also maintains positive relations with alumnae and friends’ groups.
Job duties and responsibilities include coaching and recruiting, as well as administrative duties such as coordinating training, coordinating team travel, and completing compliance information.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree
One to three years coaching experience at the club, high school or college level and/or collegiate swimming and diving experience; collegiate coaching experience preferred

• Ability to recruit within NCAA and Ivy League Rules
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication & computer skills, necessary
• Demonstrated ability to work with and relate well to students
• Excellent sport specific technical, tactical and strategic knowledge
• Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment
• Basic proficiency in excel, word, internet & email capabilities
• Social media experience, helpful
• Familiarity with FrontRush and Teamworks, or similar, preferred
• Prior experience with video editing software, helpful
• Commitment to the student-athlete, passion for the game and ability to coach & motivate
• The successful candidate for this position will be required to complete a criminal background and DMV check satisfactory to Brown University prior to commencing employment.
All division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations. The duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations, and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the division are to be reported to the appropriate parties. Employees in coaching positions must pass the NCAA Coaches Certification Test, maintain current AED/CPR & First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the division), and attend all required divisional and/or NCAA training/education programs.
