JLL is seeking an experienced Material Handler to join our team. This position entails working with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders at a client site. This role provides a wide variety of support services to the client office and the successful candidate will be detail oriented with strong organizational skills and a team player attitude.

Essential Functions

Process and status requests in the client’s waste stream profile systemTransport 5-gallon and 55-gallon containers of hazardous and non-hazardous lab waste to centralized building locations (usually a designated 90-day hazardous waste room)Monitor and manage requests for shipping preparation servicesInspect drums for proper labeling as described in the waste stream profile systemClose containers according to checklist (bung tightness, bolt location relative to label, etc.)Palletize and prepare for shipping according to checklist, situated on pallet, banded, manifest number addedFollow checklists with attention to detailsPlan order of work to ensure efficient completion within required timelinesFollow all Health and Safety rules including personal protective equipment and material handling instructionsOperate motor vehicles within a corporate campus to transport tools and materials to perform the servicesCommunication to lab occupants and requestors for non-compliant waste shipments Follow-up on error findings and compliance issuesMaintain inventory of supplies, labels, liners, zip ties, etc.

Additional Responsibilities

Receive, sort, process and distribute incoming packages and palletsPick-up, process, validate documentation and handoff to the designated freight supplier for all client-outgoing packagesPrepare and ship all non-regulated packages received dailyEnsure that all shipments of Hazardous Waste are loaded and secured in the truck before the truck leaves building for next destinationRecord and label materialsProcess desktop shipping labels for outbound shipmentsUtilize handheld devices to scan and record all incoming and outgoing packagesIdentify, sort, and manage all good and bad pallet inventories for mail, shipping, and receiving operationsWeigh and record weight of corrugated material and bundle for shipment dailyPrepare courier packages, coordinating pick-up and delivery, confirming delivery/receipt with appropriate stakeholders, and resolve any related issues in a timely mannerReport defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisorMaintain the work area in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulationsOther duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Valid Minnesota Driver’s LicenseDemonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbalStrong computer skills and experience with Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.Strong customer serviceA high degree of accuracy is required for handling sensitive equipment and proper routing of shipmentsAbility to work in fast paced environment while managing multiple work streams and prioritiesAbility to lift 50 lbs. repeatedlyLifting, bending, twistingAbility to operate material handling equipment

Estimated total compensation for this position:

22.00 – 24.00 USD per year

The total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data .
