Job Description
Focus on supporting hazardous waste processing and compliance, and
supporting broader Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives to ensure a safe, healthy, and
environmentally compliant workplace. This position involves supporting the
management of hazardous waste, leading waste stream collection, and
disposal preparation, training support, and promoting a culture of safety
across the facility.
POSITION DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
● Execute tasks related to the daily storage and disposal of hazardous
and non-hazardous waste in compliance with RCRA, EPA, OSHA, and
local regulations.
● Collaborate with the EHS team to implement safety protocols, policies,
and procedures across the facility to enhance safety culture and
regulatory compliance.
● Identify, label, and categorize hazardous waste materials, ensuring
accurate storage and labeling in compliance with regulatory standards.
● Conduct regular inspections of hazardous waste storage areas and
general facility compliance with EHS standards.
● Assist with investigations into hazardous material spills, near-misses,
and other safety incidents, implementing corrective actions and root
cause analysis as needed.
● Support EHS training initiatives.
● Serve as a responder for hazardous material spills, containing and
cleaning up safely.
● Maintain detailed, up-to-date records on hazardous waste generation,
storage, and disposal.
● Maintain and restock safety equipment and PPE to ensure readiness for
all hazardous waste and emergency response activities.
● Work with the EHS team to evaluate and improve safety,
environmental, and waste management processes.
Limited/Guided Decision Making:
● Executes tasks based on established processes with some
discretion in approach, consulting the supervisor as needed when
deviating from established processes.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required; coursework in hazardous waste
management, environmental science, or EHS is preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience in hazardous materials management, EHS, or
safety compliance in manufacturing or industrial settings is preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, RCRA, and DOT regulations for hazardous
waste management is preferred.
• Must be able to operate a fork truck.
• Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficient in Google Workspace for documentation and reporting.
• Ability to handle highly confidential matters.
• Willingness to accept increased responsibilities and meet the demands
of the business in a mature and professional manner, whether working
independently or as part of a team.
• Proficient written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to work across different
cultures.
• Excellent time-management, organizational, and project-management
skills.
• Accurate typing, spelling, and grammar skills.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds; comfortable working in
a manufacturing environment with exposure to varying temperatures,
chemicals, and noise levels.
