Pilgrim’s wants **_YOU_** to join our **_Pilgrim’s Family_** as a **_Hatchery DRIVER_** **!** Pilgrim’s offers an excellent benefits and compensation package. **_Summary of Opening:_** CHICK TRUCK DRIVER The chick driver is responsible for picking up chicks from the hatchery and delivering them to the farms each day. The driver is responsible for performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections as well as forklift inspections. The driver is responsible for loading the trailer with stacks of chicks on pallets. Each pallet could contain from 8 to 120 boxes of chicks, with a maximum of 9 pallets per trailer. The driver will safely deliver the chicks to a farm and help unload them on site using the forklift. Once all chicks have been unloaded, the driver will take the empty chick boxes and deliver them back to the hatchery to be cleaned. The driver will unload the pallets and push them into the processing room for the sanitation crew to wash. After the boxes have been dropped off, the driver repeats these steps after retrieving new boxes of chicks. The driver will haul approximately 2 or 3 loads a day. EGG TRUCK DRIVER Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Pick up eggs from each grower farm twice a week and keep consistent schedule for each farm • Loading and unloading of eggs • Truck should be unloaded, washed, and disinfected by end of each day _The typical schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday starting around 6am until done hauling designated loads. Typically, a 10 to 12-hour workday._ _Works occasional Wednesdays for driver meetings and deep cleaning trailers._ _Work all holidays that fall on weekdays except for Christmas._ _The individual selected for this position will be responsible for driving a truck from the hatchery to and from various grower’s farms throughout the area. Successful applicants will also realize that they are representing Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation whenever they are driving a company vehicle, making sure to always follow the rules of the road._ **_Description of Duties/Qualifications:_** + **_Must have excellent attendance habits._** + _Will load trucks at hatchery, deliver chicks to farms, return empty carriers to hatchery and wash chick carriers after return to hatchery._ _The nature of the position is very physical._ + _You must be able to drive large trucks in all types of weather and have the ability to chain wheels, if needed._ + _Must be able to lift/push 100+ lbs._ + _Must have a valid CDL Class A license, a good driving record, a drug-free record and must pass a DOT physical._ + _Vision correctable to 20/20._ + _Must possess good decision-making ability._ + _As trucks are heated for chick transport, some mechanical abilities in this area would be preferred if repairs to the vehicle were needed while in transit._ + _May also be required to do other Hatchery related jobs._ + _Good work ethics and able to work as a team with other drivers and Hatchery employees._ + _Able to work in hot and dusty environments._ + _Normal workdays Monday – Tuesday, Thursday –Friday – work any scheduled holidays. Sometimes we do work on Saturdays if needed._ + _Start times vary with seasons, normal start times are 5:30 to 7:30 am and finish work by 6:30 pm._ + _Must be able to operate a manual CMV_ **EXPECTATIONS –** all Team Members ·Observe & enforce all company personnel, quality, safety, and food safety policies. ·Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you work effectively and cooperatively with customers, clients, coworkers, and leadership teams. ·Participates in process improvement and problem solving utilizing continuous improvement and rational thinking methodologies such as Six Sigma. **KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES** ·Working knowledge of driving and traffic rules. ·Appropriate skill to drive a truck safely ·Ability to follow both written and verbal directions ·Ability to communicate effectively with others in a manner that maintains harmony with co-workers ·Considerable ability to lift up to 50 pounds. ·Considerable ability to work under dusty adverse conditions. ·Valid Class A Driver’s license and acceptable driving record according to Company Policy 622 required, (Possession of single, valid operator’s license with appropriate vehicle classification for operators state of residence; no incident in prior 36 months in which the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs; no incident in prior 36 months of reckless/careless driving; no major driving violations), for Lockout/Tag out safety as well as other company safety programs and policies. ·Valid Pilgrim’s Forklift license or ability to obtain license within 30 days **EOE/Vet/Disabled**
