POSITION SUMMARY: Food Production - Harvest Skilled PR07 - Kill Floor - Full-Time
Starting pay: $21.50/HR
Kill Floor team members are involved the humane slaughter of live animals and preparation for deboning. Activities include the driving up live animals from the holding pens to the kill floor, electrical stunning of live animals, bleeding, skinning, eviscerating hogs and inspecting hog carcasses.
RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS:
Must be trained in the humane handling of livestock in accordance with the Humane Slaughter Act. Requires the use of knives and knife sharpening equipment. Knowledge of hydraulic cutters. Keep work area clean and tidy during production. Recondition meat that has touched an unsanitary surface. Visually inspect hog carcasses and trim off bruised meat and other visual contamination. Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs). Monitor Critical Control Points (CCP) as specified in plant’s Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Plan (HACCP). Other duties as assigned. Provide on-the-job training to new team members. Manual dexterity required for performing job. Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds.FOR ALL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; steel-toed work boots, ear plugs, hair net, hard hat, beard net (if applicable), chain glove, chain sleeve, belly guard, cutting glover (knife hand), wrist guard and smock. Cell phones and jewelry are not permitted on the factory floor.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENT:
Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include: steel-toed work boots, ear plugs, hair net, hard hat, beard net (if applicable), and smock.
