Job Title: Hardware Software Test Engineer

Job Description

As a member of the Verification and Validation engineering team, you will be responsible for supporting product verification, validation, and compliance test activities on electrical and mechanical medical device components and systems. Your expertise will be applied to all levels of product development, from prototype components to final system design. This role involves planning, developing, executing, and validating test methods, and creating associated documentation. You will interface with and support various groups, including R&D, Project Management, Quality, and Manufacturing.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute verification test methods, protocols, and reports for the verification of requirements on components and systems.Drive quality into product development through analysis, testing, and timely feedback of test results to the cross-functional team.Reverse engineer designs, review requirements, and fully understand design features to perform test impact assessments, create test strategy, and develop full test plans.Design test cases including methodology, setups, materials, equipment, procedure, and acceptance criteria based on requirement and standard.Conduct functional testing of mechanical assemblies, electrical circuits, and systems.Serve as a key contributor to cross-functional team meetings and design reviews.Review and analyze requirements and compliance standards as part of test development.Support the hardware team in product development, concept feasibility, pre-compliance, and change activities by developing tests and providing test data.Design hardware and/or software tools and fixtures for executing test methods and analyzing data.Review, understand, and characterize electrical/mechanical designs to develop test methods ensuring requirement coverage.Lead small teams through test projects for electromechanical components and systems.Read and understand medical compliance standards and requirements, evaluate risks, and develop test procedures that ensure requirements are met, including leading test execution at third-party medical device safety test labs.Essential Skills3+ years of experience with electromechanical systems.3+ years of experience conducting functional testing of hardware and software systems.1+ year of experience in a regulated setting such as Medical, Automotive, or Defense.Experience developing test procedures from requirements.Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.Experience with test engineering and using test equipment such as oscilloscopes.Proficiency in Python and design verification.Experience with system and component level V&V testing, plans, procedures, and reports.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience using electrical and mechanical lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, DMM, power supplies, force/pressure gauges, calipers, thermometers, flow meters, and scales.Experience with hardware test and validation procedures.Work Environment

This role is based in an office environment with a lab setting. You will work with large pieces of capital equipment, simulating end-user conditions. Testing will occur after software updates have been implemented.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
