Hardware Analog Engineer

The NI ADG (Aerospace, Defense, Government Business Unit) Customer Centric Solutions Team is seeking to hire an experienced Chief Solution Architect to work on custom engineering opportunities that enable the sale and integration of standard NI Products.  The primary responsibilities of this position are to work with NI customers, sales personnel, engineering teams, alliance partners, and contract manufacturers to define, estimate, document, design, deploy, and sustain NI products tailored to meet specific customer requirements for large-scale turnkey engineering solutions.  The ideal candidate has experience and knowledge regarding NI products and system-level design with a focus on improving processes to drive efficiency in shipping large-scale systems!

Core Job Responsibilities:

This is a multi-functional role dealing with diverse engineering needs, including the ability to gather requirements, estimate LOE for large complex systems, generate specification documents, interface with alliance partners, contract manufacturers and internal personnel to design, deploy and sustain custom solutions worldwide. This role also services as an overall tech lead for the systems we are deploying and growing the people on our teams. This is a high visibility role within NI requiring daily interaction with NI customers, NI Alliance Partners, NI Sales Teams, NI Engineering Teams, and Executive Management. The role will include:

Interacting with a wide variety of NI customers, NI staff, external alliance partners and suppliers in support of designing, implementing and sustaining of custom solutions Generating requirements documents, statements of work and Bills of Materials Defining and implementing project plans, managing milestones and holding reviews to assure systems meet requirements and readiness for deployment Specifying, designing, prototyping, testing, and deploying turnkey automated solutions with a keen eye for Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and expertise Directing support personnel, managing project technical deliverables, guiding technical decisions and driving field found issues to resolution Traveling as needed (possibly up to 25%) domestically and abroad in support of project objectives

Experience and Skill Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

B. S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or Electronics Engineering Technology Minimum of 15 years relevant industry experience in a Hardware Systems Design Role or a Test Engineering Design Role   US Person (US Citizen or Green Card ) ONLY, ability to work on ITAR projects and qualify for DoD Clearances Strong understanding of electrical engineering, electronics & computer architectures  Understanding of high-level programming languages (LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++/C#, Python)  Demonstrated understanding of the following concepts and principles:  Design for Manufacturing Sources of measurement error Azure Dev Ops workflows System self-test fundamentals and SW architectures needed for test. Appropriate selection of test and measurement instrumentation and equipment Understanding of schematics and wiring diagrams Integration of hardware and software Bill of Materials creation and review Familiarity with CAD and PCB design tools Statistical analysis of data (Cp, Cpk, GR&R) Cable Harness Design

Preferred Skills:

Hands on use of schematic capture tools and PCB design tools Knowledge in Component Supplier Selection Knowledge in Compliance Certifications (CE, UL, TUV, Etc.) Hands on use of NI Hardware Platforms and Instruments Hands on use of NI LabVIEW and Test Stand Solidworks electrical and mechanical tools chains NI manufacturing processes and tools/infrastructure Demonstrated ability to: Work effectively in a diverse, multi-cultural group development environment Problem-solve effectively - diagnose technical issues and propose reasonable solutions Lead teams in test and measurement system design Take initiative, be a self-starter, and work independently Persistently drive tasks and lead projects to successful completion Quickly learn applicable technology, systems, and products Strong work ethic and drive to succeed
