Overview Start Date: October 1, 2025 End Date: May 31, 2026 La Quinta Resort and Club, located in La Quinta, California, seeks fifteen (15) full-time, temporary Cooks who will be responsible for preparing, seasoning, and cooking soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other food items in a restaurant. Essential Functions Prepares all food items according to standard recipes or, as otherwise specified by supervisor, to ensure consistency of product to the guest; requires transportation of heavy food products. Checks and controls the proper storage of products, especially on all fresh produce, checks on portion control, to maintain quality product. Keeps all refrigeration, storage, and working areas clean, working conditions to comply with health department regulations. Ensure that all equipment in working areas is clean and in proper working conditions to comply with Health Department regulations. Visually inspects, selects, and uses only the freshest fruits, vegetables, meats, and other food products of the highest standard in the preparation of all menu items. Reads and employs math skills for following recipes. Prepares requisition for supplies and food items for production in workstation. Will report directly to the Executive Chef at La Quinta Resort and Club. Specific Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the requirements of the company. Performs any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by supervisor. Keep floors dry and clean to avoid slip/fall accidents. Performs other duties as requested, such as moving supplies and equipment, cleaning up unexpected spills. Experience Six (6) months of culinary experience in a fine-dining or high-volume environment at a high-end restaurant, resort, or private club required. Applicants must complete pre-employment background check at employer’s expense. On-the-job training is provided. Schedule 35 hours per week. Work schedule can vary and can include evening, weekend, and holiday hours. Work may be performed on any day of the week from Monday through Sunday. Example shifts: 4:00am – 11:00am, or 12:00pm – 7:00pm. Shift hours may vary. Housing Optional housing is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis for workers who are relocating to begin employment. The cost of housing is $250.00 per bi-weekly pay period. If used, the total cost of housing will be deducted from paycheck. A refundable security deposit of $250.00 is required upon acceptance of housing per person, to be paid directly to La Quinta Resort and Club. The security deposit will be returned to the employee, based on the condition of the housing and at the employer’s sole discretion, at the end of the employment period. Compensation Range The compensation for this position is $18.91/Hr. - $18.91/Hr. based on qualifications and experience.
